Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant which neutralizes free radicals and strengthens skin’s own defense system. How to use the booster in 5 easy steps

Vitamin C is at its most effective when it’s freshly-activated. Our innovative packaging makes it easy to activate on first use.

Remove foil. Press. Shake. Twist cap. Boost

Cleanse

Cleanse skin thoroughly with the appropriate Eucerin cleanser. Choose from:

Tone

Follow the milk or gel cleanser with Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Clarifying Toner. There is no need to apply an additional toner after the Micellar Cleansing Fluid.

Boost

With Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C Booster. You can use it in the morning or the evening. Apply before your day or night cream or combine it with your moisturizer before applying.

Care

Follow with an appropriate moisturizer. We recommend Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Day SPF 15 or SPF 30, Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Night and Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Eye SPF 15. Be sure to apply a moisturizer with sun protection for at least a week after using Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C Booster.

Protect and correct

For additional sun protection try Eucerin Sun Fluid Photoaging Control SPF 50 or SPF 30. For instant complexion correction we recommend Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler CC Cream SPF 15 Light or Medium.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid and L-ascorbic acid although these are actually different forms of the vitamin) is an essential nutrient to our overall health and the health of our skin.

Vitamin C is key to collagen synthesis in skin cells. As one of skin’s natural filler substances, collagen gives young skin its firm structure and even appearance but degrades over time. Much of this degradation is caused by free radicals which damage the cells that produce collagen. Vitamin C is also a powerful anti-oxidant and helps to protect skin from free radical damage.

The human body cannot produce Vitamin C itself and so relies on external sources, the most common of which are dietary sources such as citrus fruits. Vitamin C is also an effective ingredient in skincare where it strengthens and ultimately protects the epidermis, keeping skin looking radiant and fresh. One of its forms, L-ascorbic acid, is more active and more widely researched and proven as a skincare ingredient than others. Eucerin uses L-ascorbic acid in Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C Booster. Another form of Vitamin C, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, is more suitable for a lip care product and is used in Eucerin Aquaphor SOS Lip Repair.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is formed by skin cells and is part of the connective tissue of the skin. One of its key functions is to retain moisture, and it has the ability to bind in between 1,000 and 10,000 times its own weight in water (i.e. one gram binds between one and ten liters). As we age, the skin's natural ability to produce Hyaluronic Acid depletes and wrinkles start to form and deepen.

Licochalcone A

Licochalcone A is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing ingredient. It is derived from the root of the Chinese Licorice plant (Glycyrrhiza Inflata) which uses natural compounds to protect its cells from excessive sunlight. When used in skincare products, Licochalcone A works to reduce inflammation and neutralize free radicals that negatively influence skin cells and accelerate the aging process. It helps to protect the deeper epidermal skin layers from sun-induced effects.

Eucerin’s Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C Booster uses 10% pure and freshly-activated Vitamin C.

Pure Vitamin C naturally degrades when exposed to oxygen so it is most effective when it’s freshly-activated. Eucerin’s innovative packaging releases the Vitamin C powder just before first use to ensure it is at its most powerful.

When activated, the 10% pure Vitamin C powder in the Eucerin formula is combined into a serum which also includes low molecular Hyaluronic Acid (an effective moisturizer which helps to plump up wrinkles in the epidermal layers of skin) and Licochalcone A (another powerful anti-oxidant).

Vitamin C and Licochalcone A complement each other as anti-oxidants, working together to provide biological cell protection, especially when it comes to neutralizing the free radicals (also known as Reactive Oxygen Species, or ROS) triggered by the sun. Vitamin C offers primary defense against free radicals: it works instantly, neutralizing the free radicals on the outside of cells (extra-cellular) caused by UV light. Licochalcone A works over the longer term and, in addition to neutralizing UV-induced free radicals, it also helps to reduce free radicals triggered by high-energy visible (HEVIS) light).

What are free radicals and why are they bad for my skin?

Free radicals are highly reactive oxygen molecules and are also known as ROS – Reactive Oxygen Species. They are triggered by external factors such as the sun, the environment and our diet and lifestyle choices.

The body uses anti-oxidants to neutralize these potentially harmful free radicals. When there is an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the body’s ability to neutralize them the free radicals start to damage cells in a process known as oxidative stress. While aging is an entirely natural process, oxidative stress can cause skin to age prematurely: it may start to sag and develop wrinkles before its time and dull and tired.

It also contains low molecular Hyaluronic Acid and is clinically and dermatologically proven to strengthen skin, plump wrinkles and give it a smoother, fresher and more radiant appearance in just seven days with results improving over time.
