Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 30% Urea cream

Areas of the body such as our elbows, knees, hands and feet experience lots of pressure and friction. Skin’s protective barrier is disturbed and it is unable to retain sufficient moisture. Skin dries out and can become extremely dry, rough, thickened and scaly.

Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 30% Urea Cream gives extremely dry skin the intensive treatment it needs. The formula contains a unique combination of:

highly-concentrated 30% Urea to exfoliate
Ceramide to repair skin’s barrier
other Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs) to hydrate and bind water in to the skin

Skin is intensely moisturized and looks and feels smooth and soft.

As an intensive treatment, the product should only be applied to localized problem areas¹ rather than the whole body. Clinical and dermatological test show that skin is visibly smoother and supple after one week and improves continuously with regular use.

Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 30% Urea Cream is suitable for areas of hyperkeratotic (the medical term for thickened) skin and for people with Keratosis Pilaris and Psoriasis. It can also be used for adjunctive care in combination with the treatment prescribed by your dermatologist.

Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS Treatment Cream should not be used on open wounds.

Ingredients

Urea

Urea (also known as Carbamide) is produced naturally by the skin and is part of the essential Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) which regulates skin’s moisture content. Urea is hygroscopic, which means it is able to bind moisture into the outermost layer of skin. It is also keratolytic, meaning helps the skin to get rid of dead skin cells dead skin cells, to make it smooth again, and has anti-itch and anti-microbial properties. As a result, it improves natural exfoliation and soothes and smoothes the skin’s surface. As a substance produced naturally by the skin, Urea is well-tolerated even by dry and sensitive skin. Because all of these effects and very good study data, Urea is the gold standard in treating of dry skin.*

Ceramide 3

Ceramides are important lipids in the hydrolipid film (which protects the external layers of skin). Produced naturally in healthy skin, they strengthen the skin barrier, helping to prevent moisture loss due to evaporation and keeping out irritants that can cause inflammation and itching. When skin’s Ceramide levels fall the skin barrier is impaired. Skin can start to lose water and become dry and irritated.

Eucerin uses synthetic Ceramides that are biologically-identical and that enhance skin’s natural barrier – locking in moisture and preventing dryness and irritation.

Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF)

Healthy skin contains Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) which attract and bind in water to the outermost layers of skin, helping to prevent it from drying out and becoming scaly and rough. The NMF present in skin include substances such as amino acids, inorganic salts, Lactate and Urea. The UreaRepair PLUS range replicates the natural composition of NMF in healthy skin, giving dry skin the substances it needs for optimal hydration.

How it works

The NMFs in the formula bind water into skin, repairing skin’s barrier and reducing moisture loss. Urea is also a natural moisturizer and, in the high concentration (30%) it is in in this formula, works as a keratolytic agent removing (or exfoliating) dead skin cells thereby reducing the thickness of skin and making it smooth and soft.

Can I use Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 30% Urea Cream as an all over body moisturizer?

No. Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS Treatment Cream has been specially formulated for use on localized problem areas of extremely dry, rough, thickened or scaly skin such as those you find on hands, heels, knees and elbows. We don’t recommend that you use it on more than 10% of your skin at any one time. If you’re looking for an all over body moisturizer for very dry, rough body skin try Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 10% Urea Lotion. For dry and rough body skin we recommend Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 5% Urea Lotion or Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 5% Urea Body Cream.
How often should I apply Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS Treatment Cream?

We recommend you apply Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS Treatment Cream once or twice daily.
Can I use the product for a long period of time?

Yes. The product has excellent tolerability results and can be used for lengthy periods of time. So, for example, you can use it throughout the summer on thick and scaly skin on your heels, knees and/ or hands.
