Body wash for dry skin, very dry skin and extremely dry skin

Many soaps and cleansers contain harsh alkali detergents that wash away the epidermal lipids and moisturizing factors that form skin’s natural protective barrier. This leaves it prone to dryness and irritation.

Eucerin UreaRepair ORIGINAL 5% Urea Washfluid contains very gentle cleansing agents, making it suitable for cleansing very dry, rough body skin. It is further enriched with Urea and NMFs which protect skin from drying out further and relieve the itchiness that often comes with dry skin. The formula leaves skin smooth and supple and is ideal for daily cleansing as it moisturizes skin and supports its natural barrier function.

The body wash for dry skin is suitable for those with mature skin, Atopic Dermatitis and/or Psoriasis. It can also be used for adjunctive care.

Ingredients

Urea

Urea (also known as Carbamide) is produced naturally by the skin and is part of the essential Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) which regulates skin’s moisture content. Urea is hygroscopic, which means it is able to bind moisture into the outermost layer of skin. It is also keratolytic, meaning helps the skin to get rid of dead skin cells dead skin cells, to make it smooth again, and has anti-itch and anti-microbial properties. As a result, it improves natural exfoliation and soothes and smoothes the skin’s surface. As a substance produced naturally by the skin, Urea is well-tolerated even by dry and sensitive skin. Because all of these effects and very good study data, Urea is the gold standard in treating of dry skin.*

Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF)

Healthy skin contains Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) which attract and bind in water to the outermost layers of skin, helping to prevent it from drying out and becoming scaly and rough. The NMF present in skin include substances such as amino acids, inorganic salts, Lactate and Urea. The UreaRepair PLUS range replicates the natural composition of NMF in healthy skin, giving dry skin the substances it needs for optimal hydration.

This product is recommended for adults and has not been tested for children. For babies and children with dry skin and Atopic Dermatitis we recommend Eucerin AtopiControl. Most products in this range are suitable for babies over three months old.
What is the difference between Eucerin UreaRepair ORIGINAL 5% Urea Washfluid and Eucerin AtopiControl Bath and Shower Oil?

Eucerin UreaRepair ORIGINAL Washfluid 5% Urea is a water-based cleanser with added moisturizing factors and is suitable for very dry, rough skin and Psoriasis. While it is also suitable for atopic skin, it has not been specially formulated for those with Atopic Dermatitis. Eucerin AtopiControl Bath and Shower Oil is an oil-based bathing product, so is ideally suited for very dry and atopic skin. It can also be used as a bath additive for babies from three months.
